This Is My Shot
Regional Health Systems is following rules from the Indiana Department of Health, including the order and timing of who can get a vaccine. There will be no charge to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
While vaccine supplies remain limited, it is important to continue following all safety guidelines, including social distancing, hand washing, and wearing a mask. This will help keep you and our community safe.
Indiana's criteria for vaccine eligibility changes weekly. For the most updated eligibility criteria, please visit coronavirus.in.gov/vaccine.
Vaccine supply is very limited. If you are currently eligible, you must schedule an appointment to receive a vaccine. Walk-ins are not accepted.
To schedule an appointment call 2-1-1 to register or (219) 769-4005 (Regional's main line) and ask for the health clinic's COVID-19 vaccine registration line.
Please bring your photo ID and your insurance card to your appointment. The vaccine is free to all residents, but if you are insured we will bill your health insurance for the administrative fee. If you do not have health insurance, you will not be charged the administrative fee.
What type of vaccine is Regional administering?
We are administering the Moderna vaccine. Moderna requires 2 doses be given 4 weeks apart. We will schedule the second vaccine appointment while you are receiving your first vaccine.
What days and times is Regional offering the vaccine?
We are administering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at Regional Mental Health Center's Stark Center in East Chicago. Days and times are:
Tuesdays: 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Wednesdays: 1:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Thursdays: 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Will Regional offer vaccinations at other locations?
Yes. We plan to offer vaccinations at other locations. Please check back for updates.
I do not live in Indiana, but I work in Indiana. Can I get the vaccine from Regional?
Yes. People who work in Indiana, but do not live here, and meet eligibility requirements can register using their work address.
Is there a cost to receive the vaccine?
The vaccine is free. However, there is a fee to administer the vaccine, which will be billed to your or the client's insurance. If the patient does not have insurance, there is no charge. No one should receive a bill for the COVID-19 vaccine. If you do receive a bill from Regional Health Systems, call 769-4005 and indicate you were charged for a COVID-19 vaccine.
Do I have to wear a mask or socially distance once I get the vaccine?
You must continue to take these steps that we do now to prevent the spread of COVID-19:
Wear a mask to protect yourself and others
Stay at least 6 feet apart (about 2 arm lengths)
Practice good hand hygiene by washing with soap and water or using hand sanitizer
Isolate yourself if you’re sick and stay home if you’ve been exposed to someone with COVID-19
Clean frequently touched surfaces often
The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine received approval for emergency use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on December 18, 2020. The vaccine is authorized or the prevention of 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) for individuals 18 years of age and older.
